What to do when Satan sneaks up on you with the sword of doubt and discouragement.

Beware of Sneak Attacks from the Enemy

Day Seven:  “ You enlarged my path under me, so my feet did not slip.” Psalm 18:36

My response:
“You have to be kidding. To keep my feet from slipping, you are responsible for enlarging the path I walk on? Did you know this slipping and sliding happens when Satan startles my peace? Of course, you do? It most always causes me to lose my coordination, my oneness with you and the ground I have gained. Then I panic, rash words gush out on my mouth and rushing forward...my feet slip into the sin of covetousness…the root of all separating sin”

His reply
:  “My, child, do you know what to do when Satan startles you? When Satan startles you: sing! You sing yourself into my presence. Your singing is for my ear only. I know you can’t carry a tune; I will give you the tune, too. Just open your mouth and sing of my grace, my mercy, my love and my filling you to overflowing with my Spirit of Oneness. Sing all the way to the mountain heights where there is perfect unity and coordination with my heart. Satan is banished here.”

My response:
“Father, now I get it. You stand me on Christ, my solid Rock; teach me to sing a new song of praise; to abandon myself and embrace you; and turn my back on Satan’s strategy of startling me. Finally, you make me to reflect you love and joy and peace. Thank you for your protection from self and Satan. Thank you for this new song. May I sing it boldly as you take the discord of the notes and turn them into a melody of praise pleasing to your ear.

Your response
:

                                                      Be a Follower

Day eight: “You follow me…” Mark 1:17

My response:
“Your have to be kidding, Lord. Be a follower? Seems like everything I read encourages us to be a leader, to take the initiative, to step out of the crowd. Leadership in my world is power and prestige. Leadership is wealth and wisdom. Leadership is sought after at any price.”

His reply: “My child, in my scheme of things, a leader is a follow of me and my son and my spirit…a oneness of mind and motives and movement. Yes, that’s what I said. Don’t get caught up in the ‘Spotlight Saints’ or the Wow Writers” of your day. Daily decide to follow me and be an imitator of my son.”

My response: “Father, now I got it.” Forgive me, as a mother, for having asked you to bless my sons as leaders. Instead, make them personal followers of you. Free them from trying to engineer circumstances, from trying to find their own way to lead others. May I change my life-long prayer from ‘make them leaders’ to ‘made them personal followers of your son, Jesus Christ.’”
